CSR Partnership with Cosmo People Foundation: How Companies Can Help

Companies in India can fund community projects through their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) budgets. Cosmo People Foundation, a Section 8 non-profit in Nashik with CSR-1 registration, works with companies to run projects in health, education, livelihoods, the environment and more.

What is CSR in India?

Under Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013, companies above a certain size must spend a set share of their average net profit on social causes. In general, this applies to companies with a net worth of ₹500 crore or more, a turnover of ₹1,000 crore or more, or a net profit of ₹5 crore or more. The share is 2% of the average net profit of the previous three years. Each company’s CSR committee decides which projects to fund.

Which activities qualify?

Schedule VII of the Companies Act lists the activities that count as CSR. They include healthcare, education, skill development, women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability, art and culture, rural development and disaster relief. These match the objectives in our Memorandum of Association.

How a CSR partnership works

  1. Introduction: you share your CSR focus areas and budget range.
  2. Project selection: we suggest projects that fit your priorities.
  3. Proposal and budget: we send a plan with costs, timeline and expected outcomes.
  4. Agreement: both sides sign an agreement that sets out the scope and the reporting.
  5. Delivery: our team runs the project and keeps you informed.
  6. Reporting: we share progress and financial reports, as agreed in the agreement.

What we ask every company to check

We encourage every partner to check our registrations, our policies and our track record before deciding. Your CSR committee and your auditors have the final say on which implementing agency they can work with.
