PRISM: Inclusive Arts and Talent Showcases for Persons with Disabilities

PRISM is Cosmo People Foundation’s inclusive arts program in Nashik. It gives persons with disabilities, including people who are deaf or blind, a mainstream stage to show their talent in music, arts and fashion, and helps audiences see ability first.

What is PRISM?

Every person has talent. But persons with disabilities often find that stages, studios and audiences are not open to them. PRISM changes that. It brings performers with disabilities into the mainstream, in front of audiences who come to enjoy the talent.

Why inclusive arts matter

  • Equal opportunity: India’s Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 recognises equal opportunity and full participation in society. Arts and culture are part of that.
  • Confidence and income: a stage gives performers confidence, recognition and, in time, work.
  • A change in attitude: when audiences see talent first, attitudes change.

What PRISM does

PRISM follows the objectives in our Memorandum of Association to promote disability inclusion through accessible infrastructure, inclusive education, skill development and equal opportunity initiatives, together with arts and culture. The program’s showcases cover music, arts and inclusive fashion. [Add one line about your most recent PRISM showcase: year, venue, performers and audience.]
